All the Things I Should Say

All the Things I Should Say

I see the ghost of a smile on your face,
Shown there with no signs of disgrace,
The intense pain on your lips,
Waiting for part of you to slip.
It seems the world’s a bitter place,
One not fit for the human race,
My pain is seen behind my smiles,
But it hasn’t been seen for a while,
It hides and hides as I play the role,
Of some other life, some other soul,
Laughing and playing,
Flirting and saying,
All the things I should say,
To make this one a better day,
But it’s never the same when you’re dead,
Dead to the world or dead in the head,
I don’t think I’m here anymore,
Maybe I never really was before,
And the times ring loud like a bell,
Outside the doors of hell,
A soft whisper, the times I’ve cried,
The best part of me has died,
How many times can I call your name,
Miss your touch and feel the same,
Lost to memories of the past,
Hoping there’s a part to grasp,
Of all the times you were here,
Wanting, just wanting you to be near.
